Re: hello

Welcome again! Thanks for posting in the Mahayan/Pali Canon thread. Interesting stuff to digest. I have a bad habit of coming off confrontational when I don't mean to. I'm glad you found value in it. No worries. I didn't think you were being confrontational at all and your answer is just the kind o...

Do you find this in Sutta Pitaka?
I don't believe it's in the Sutta Pitaka.

Repentance, Remorse & Forgiveness

I have often found myself wanting a more clearly defied practice of repentance and requesting forgiveness that accords with my largely Theravada bias. How does the view of remorse laid out by the Lord Buddha in the Sankha Sutta http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/sn/sn42/sn42.008.than.html jive ...

Hmmm...I would have never thought to classify Zoroastrianism as pagan but if that's the consensus then let' go with it.

Re: Could we please have a Pagan sub-forum?

Sounds good to me but would we lump Druidry, Wicca, Norse and Hellenistic religions together under it? By pagan do we mean primarily pre-Christian European religions? What about shamanism and native American traditions?

Re: How to Understand the Mahayana in Light of the Pali Canon

:goodpost: Thanks for that. Do you have any recommendations for a good resource on the three bodies? This is a good commentary on a praise to the Buddha's qualities as understood in Mahayana. http://dharmawheel.net/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=22873 One of the main things to note is that, in the Sravakayan...

Re: Stephen Batchelor's New Book

Haven't ead it. I have read a bunch of reviews and I'm not too interested in it. To be fair, I'm no fan of Batchelor's brand of secular Buddhism. Seems to push a certain Western, materialist bias.

Lobster,

To me, it just serves as a reminder not to make a show of one's practice. Their methods of actually incurring blame rather than simply accepting the blame are a little extreme for me.
