Interesting correlation between God and light in major world religions both Dharmic and Abrahamic...

Post by Ajay0 »

I have come across some observations which depict an interesting correlation between God and light in the major world religions....

In Hinduism, the Vedas and Hindu scriptures considers the Shivalinga as representing a cosmic pillar of light. The Dharmic monotheistic sect the Prajapita Brahmakumaris consider God to be an incorporeal point of light.

The Upanishads and enlightened masters have also described Brahman to be self-luminous.

Sikh teachings also reveal God to be self-luminous. (Amongst all is the Light-You are that Light. (13-5, DnwsrI, m 1 ) )

Similarly, the Abrahamic religions also associate God with light.

In Islam, Allah has 100 name's, and one of them is Alnoor ( the Light).

“God is light,” says 1 John 1:5, in the Bible in Christianity.

In Judaism, Psalm 76:4 says of God, “You are radiant with light.”

In the Bahai religion, it is stated thus, "This is the Day whereon naught can be seen except the splendors of the Light that shineth from the face of Thy Lord, the Gracious, the Most Bountiful."(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 29)

So this correlation between God and light, is a common denominator in these Dharmic and Abrahamic major world religions.

Imo, the fire worship in Zoroastrianism may be illustrating this correlation between God (Ahura Mazda ) and light as well, light being emitted by the fire.

I would say this may provide more proof that the major world religions are identical in their core, with only superficial differences on the outside creating cause for extremism and conflict. If you find any further proofs or evidences in this regard, please do share it here.

Thanking in advance.

Yes, quite true. However this pervasive simile of Radiance is mainly a reminder that the Illumination provided is not visible or sensory, but Wisdom, Power & Virtue.

I have personally experienced that this Light is visible in every instance, but one must perceive it in a Spiritual Sense, with Spiritual Senses. That Same Light is inside all of us now, and now that Jesus Christ has returned, we will be able to shine our Lights throughout the world.

Of course I do not deny auras of Sages or holy places. I wrote "simile of Radiance is mainly a reminder..."

If one has some degree of ordinary clairvoyance, auras can be seen around everyone & everything. So an aura alone means little, even one seen with a spiritual or higher sense.

The Great Ones radiate qualities of Goodness, not just light.

Yes, but Holy Light has a very Special quality in it that can be distinguished from the ordinary. But you are correct!

Then you will agree that Evil Light can be seen also and it cannot be known correctly based only on the shade of color on the spectrum?

My Master Hua said that even images of buddhas or bodhisattvas can be imitated by demons almost perfectly, including their auras' colors.

It takes an instant of insight to understand good from bad. Demons used to take thousands of hours preparing evil attacks, to be brushed off by advanced Bodhisattvas who could tell who those demons were based on the state of their souls, what was within their character. Your Spiritual Master is wise, he must have meant a mechanical imitation of that type of light, not Aurical, for when those that used to masquerade as angels of light while being sinister are easily detectable by anyone with a discerning eye. Kind of how Jesus said a bad tree produces bad fruit, and a good tree produces good fruit, and you will know them by the fruit of their works. Similarly, the demons used to imitate good in deceptive ways, but when they did so mechanically and not genuinely, so no one with discernment was fooled. That was why their anger often built up and they were doing more and more unclean works. Bad light and good light were always different, even within the same system.

It is perfect that the Golden Age of Bhakti Yoga has finally been inaugurated by the return of Christ, now, although there is still much suffering in the world, within ten thousand years all beings in the Saha world will only work towards the goal of becoming Enlightened, and also leaving this world for Heaven (for anyone can go to Heaven at exactly any point in time), which will be the goal for all. Those beings who's names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life but who have attachments to this world will have this time to work out their issues. It will all happen fast.

You are too optimistic Mr Das. I put into bold type those notions that either conflict or may be mistaken.

Considering the eons of kalpas we've all been working on to make this happen, with the return of Jesus Christ finally here, Ten Thousand Years of a Golden Age isn't too difficult to grasp as a short amount of time compared to the entire length of how long some have suffered in the Saha world. But I understand your point. At this point people should be fully going to things that truly make them happy and reuniting with Christ in every way possible.

You puzzle me. Thought Krishna was your ishta devata? Why should Jesus' visible return be more successful than all the avatars & Sages that came before? Has human nature improved that much since Rama, many thousands of years ago?

Krishna, Jesus, Buddha, and Rama are all the Same person. And of course, God is One. Jesus' return is brought on by the work done by the Saints and Sages of all Spiritual Paths and religions, as well as that of all Love and Maitri in all of existence and beyond. And there is that saying "when sin abounds, God's Grace increases", and such is the Truth in Kali-Yuga, which is now currently named such after Shiva's Wife, the Demigodess Kali, and no longer after the former demon Kali whom this Yuga was once attributed to. In fact, such was always the case but the Truth was kept hidden. And after all, though Shiva dealt greatly with the mode of ignorance in the past, He is also the greatest Vaishnava, and also God Himself. :namaste:

Jesus Christ please be merciful unto us. Hare Krishna!
