Every planet and every quadrant of Space holds a habitation for it's unique realization of Life. Not all flesh is carbon based. In fact if you hold to the Advanced Christian Teaching that Everything is a form of flesh, and that Jesus Christ came in the Flesh, as He did, able to bring anyone or any phenomena into repentance and into Spiritual Christhood in the Flesh, then you will understand the Advanced Buddhist Philosophy that everything is a product of the mind, and therefore alive or Living, in some form. Therefore everything around you and beyond has a form of consciousness, liberated or conditioned, and it is your direct duty to bring it to Buddhahood, which is Christhood in the Flesh.
I have for their sake established expedient means,
preaching the way that ends all suffering.
And showing them nirvana.
But although I preach nirvana,
this is not a true extinction.
All phenomena from the very first
have of themselves constantly borne the marks of
tranquil extinction.
Once the sons of the Buddha have carried out this path,
then in a future existence they will be able to become Buddhas.
-Gautama Buddha, Chapter 2, The Lotus Sutra.

Cool. And as I always say, it's not incompatible with Buddhism (or Jainism and some other Dharma Paths) because there is not just one Buddha, but innumerable Buddhas.
