Hello!

Post by Zenny »

Hi! I am a non buddhist Zen practioner. I have an interest in the mystical interpretations of the various religions and philosophies, and the use and misuse of religion and politics. I see religions as sharing in common meditation/prayer and some type of morality.
One can become happy from any spiritual path, but i think some beliefs may be a hindrance.
I dislike any kind of legalism, dogmatism and authoritarianism. I love martial arts, poetry, fitness and talking. Hope to have some open minded discussions here. :namaste:

Welcome Dear Friend.

Turn to Buddha as the Proper Authority.

And you will find Him within Yourself.

I love Siddhartha. But I don't take any teachers as authorities.

Except your self, sounds like.

Truth is where you find it. If you think "outside" differs from "inside," consider that it all comes thru our mind.

Ah that old chestnut! Should I learn how to walk from a guru?

Did your parents ignore your falls & stumbles as a baby, or did they help you to walk?

I can't remember. But I know I learnt myself.
Who taught that I should eat as a baby?
Is there anything that you learnt yourself in life?

I know you're being facetious, but there actually is some instruction for that. :D

Notice how they are even walking in-step with the person in front of them, para-military style.

You make much of meditation only for me. Drop the zippy responses and meditate about:
Does "outside" differ from "inside," since everything is from the mind alone.

I'm sure there is! I've always found walking to be a good way to meditate, and I knew this before I knew anything about official walking meditation.
Just way too much reliance on others, rather than instinctive intuitive learning and taking responsibility for our own learning and practice.

This koan was demolished a long time ago by me.
I don't have to drop anything.
Drop the presumptions.
It's funny you think meditation is pondering. Zippiness and speed is Meditation as well. Sports meditation.

There is no need to categorise or think in language.
Then the koan is no more.
Speed is the ability to recognise a koan as nonsense, irrelevant or not needed.
