Any amount of alcohol is bad for you

Post by DNS »

A new extensive Oxford University study has found that any amount of alcohol is bad for you.
There is no safe amount of alcohol consumption for the brain, with even “moderate” drinking adversely affecting nearly every part of it, a study of more than 25,000 people in the UK has found.

The study, which is still to be peer-reviewed, suggests that the more alcohol consumed, the lower the brain volume. In effect, the more you drink, the worse off your brain.

“There’s no threshold drinking for harm – any alcohol is worse. Pretty much the whole brain seems to be affected – not just specific areas, as previously thought,” said the lead author, Anya Topiwala, a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Oxford. ... inds-study
Many people believe alcohol is okay in moderation or very small amounts, but this study suggests otherwise.

Science is always behind the curve in psychological & spiritual matters.
They [wine & spirits] are worse for his moral and spiritual growth than meat, for alcohol in all its forms has a direct, marked, and very deleterious influence on man's psychic condition. Wine and spirit drinking is only less destructive to the development of the inner powers, than the habitual use of hashish, opium, and similar drugs.
Blavatsky in 1889 or so, mentioned specifically that the pituitary & pineal glands in the brain are affected.
A true mind and true intent bring truth within truth. True practice and true cultivation take the truth beyond truth. True behavior and true conduct add truth to truth. In everything and every way, be true, true, true. Master Hua

This is common sense if one thinks about the substance. Alcohol gets into your blood and other bodily fluids as well as organs. It’s going to affect your whole body and not just your brain. Best not to drink it. Very small amounts will affect you a small amount, but they will still affect you. Better to even stay away from the alcoholic mouthwash. There are plenty of organic or completely non alcoholic alternatives that are cheap.

And root  is better for you than the alcoholic stuff.

Honestly, it’s best to eat/drink/live vegetarian or vegan, and definitely one must live in a healthy way for the entire body and the best way to do that is to continue living in sobriety continue with constant Spiritual Practice. Even caffeine is a bit of a bad thing, it’s nicer to be completely clean off of mind altering substances and drugs, that way one can get acquainted with their Soul and practice proper Anatta, which means selfless devotional service if one wants to understand the purpose of meditating in Emptiness. "But although I preach nirvana, this is not a true extinction. All phenomena from the very first have of themselves constantly borne the marks of tranquil extinction. Once the sons of the Buddha have carried out this way, then in a future existence they will be able to become Buddhas."

The number of people who die from alcohol-related deaths in Russia and China is staggering, I honestly had no idea it was that bad.

Obviously China is larger than the US population-wise, but they still have 9x the amount of alcohol-related deaths, even though they're only about 3x the size of the US.

Likewise, Russa has over twice as many alcohol-related deaths even though it has less than half the US population.
